Please pardon my ignorance, but what is VE?
Please pardon my ignorance, but what is VE?
No ignorance at all - (well I suppose by the technical definition, that's what ignorance is, but it carries such a negative connotation!) VE stand for Value Engineering. What it means in the industry is "Ok, we have this ride and this is how much money we have- so we need to cut or trim some stuff to get in down to the range we can afford to spend."
Basically it's "budget cuts" but not quite as severe all the time. It's really a study of how to best adjust things to save cash with the least amount of negative impact to the finished product.
Sorry about that Mearn, i tend to use abbreviations quite a bit when i dont feel like typing..."VE" is industry jargon, guess i should clarify next time i throw a curveballThanks for clearing that up Chris. Its good to know that what we see is what we will get in terms of the additions at WDW and DL. I hear so many people, including yourself, talk about how amazing TDS is and it kinda makes one mad that we cant have that too...Of course if i could afford to be a world traveler i wouldnt compain so much!
Dear God am I late to the forums today! I'm gonna try to hit all the points made by others in one post!
I did see the leaked plans on screamscape a while back so the official announcement is no major surprise to me.
The concept art is b-e-a-utiful! And thank god for the dueling Dumbos! It might give me an excuse to ride it again!
Toontown Fair, thou shall not be missed, BY ANYONE! I barely have any criticisms of the plan which is very odd for me
Mermaid's exterior will be amazing if the rockwork is up to the level Disney themselves have set (And given the scope and timeline I'm sure it will be!)
New restaurants make me happy. Hell, when a restaurant opens in the hometown I'm pumped.![]()
The Epcot Center logo symbolizes unity, fellowship, and harmony around the world. Five outer rings are linked to form the shape of a flower; a celebration of life. The heart of the logo is the Earth, embraced by a star symbolizing hope; the hope that with imagination, commitment, and dedication, we can create a better tomorrow.
First off the renderings are amazing. Does anyone know the artist of the Dumbo image?
Second, this is a brilliant upgrade to the area, and I'm sure a welcome addition to WDW in order to counter Potter. However, when it boils down to it, it seems like a glorified Mickey's ToonTown. Just a bunch of meet-and-greets, with F&B and retail. I'm not trying to take anything away by writing that; just look at the smile on children's faces when they meet any character, but throwing a ride or two in couldn't have hurt. But, like Chris mentioned it seems as though it will be a beautiful area to walk through and photograph.
Kudos to the Magic Kingdom.

Hey gang, scroll back up to page one and check out the original post in this thread. It's been *heavily* updated with tons of details for all the new attractions in the re-imagined Fantasyland as well as around twenty different pieces of high resolution art on display at the D23 Expo this morning!
Wow great update. This concept art is amazing. I think I am actually the most excited for the new Little Mermaid E-Ticket! I think Little Mermaid is not represented enough in the parks. This should be great! Plus I love omnimovers. Go Imagineers!![]()

It's been a long time since Florida has seen a new, classic dark ride. I suppose one could argue a point for the Seas with Nemo and Friends, but speaking in terms of from the ground up, completely new construction - this is the one.
At some point soon I'll post plans fom the new Mermaid ride to give everyone a feel for what is in store. I, personally, am much more excited for the landscaping and scenic treatments throughout the land itself.
