For that to happen, Universal would have to improve their product quality dramatically.

Agreed. They'd also need more to do. I still don't think Universal has enough going on to warrant the three resorts, but that's just my opinion. I feel like they're missing out on something to keep their guests AT Universal.

My opinion of Universal has always been that while their rides are typically better than something you'd find in a regional theme park, nothing they have really drives me to get right back in line for a second spin. Once I ride something at UO, I'm pretty much done with it, with very few exceptions.

Part of a destination park simply has to be re-rideablility. With that, Universal will remain a 2-3 hour stop for me.

I just want more people there and less people at WDW
Epcot Center also features pavilions built by various foreign nations, where you can experience an extremely realistic
simulation of what life in these nations would be like if they consisted almost entirely of restaurants and souvenir stores.

If we were getting a Matterhorn Bobsleds, Alice in Wonderland and maybe another dark ride or two I'd certainly be jealous if I lived by Disneyland as well. This land is going to be iconic, compelling, stunning, no doubt - but it's still just a bunch of (really) pretty facades compared to Disneyland's Fantasyland full to the brim with unique rides.

    Default Understanding the Dumbo Art

So - I finally got an answer as to why the carousel is very clearly featured in the released piece of Dumbo art that was issued as part of the re-imagined Fantasyland annoucnement.

Anyone who has seen the plan will know that Dumbo's Flying Circus - the new "Dueling Dumbos" complex + interactive Big Top Queue is not placed anywhere near the carousel - in fact, it's almost at the furest possible extreme from it within Fantasyland's boundaries.

So why's it pictured in that art? Are they moving the carousel? Are they not really moving Dumbo after all?

Um, actually - none of the above.

The piece of art was rendered for a proposed refurbishment of the attraction at Tokyo Disneyland several years ago. Yes - you're looking at a not-at-all-new piece of concept art done for Oriental Land Company, which instead was just slapped into the presentation to give it a bit more beef. This also explains why the art implies the ride itself will be under circus tents, which will NOT be the case.

Interesting little AI exclusive for ya on that one!

Great find there Chris. We can always count on you to go that extra step to get the best information.

I was looking yesterday on WestCoaster at their pictures from Tokyo DisneySea. Pretty much every picture was emphasizing the point that TDL and TDS have more elaborate, intricate, and "nice" looking theming. I guess that explains why this concept art looks so beautiful.... Hopefully we will get something that comes close to this scope of detailing though.

Having been to both Tokyo DisneySea and Tokyo Disneyland myself, I can tell you that while I will agree that TDS' themeing is over-the-top-amazing, that is not something I would say about TDL's. I was honestly not a fan of the park. Many of the attractions in the park were, in my opinion, better versions than ones at WDW or DL - but the park itself was just a mess. I found it hard to define where one land ended and the next begain, and everything just felt like one huge jumble of "We like this ride from this park so put it here and we want that ride so just put it there." Give you an example - I had thought we were out of Tomorrowland, as all the "future" theming had ended. It appeared as though we were now in Fantasyland, yet the Star Jets (Astro Orbitor equivalent) still sat fifty or so feet ahead of us.

The other thing I found less than charming (but required by design based on the massive crowds in that park every day) was the fact that the walk ways were SO impossibly wide that you sort of felt like it was Tokyo Disney Parkinglot more than a Magic Kingdom at times. Now yes, I'm being a bit over-critical; it IS a nice park - it just entirely lacks the charm of the original Disneyland. Pooh's Hunny Hunt and Splash Mountain more than make up for that though

As for the art work, I've heard whispers that what you see is pretty much what you'll get in terms of detail quality, so that has me pretty excited.
