Default TOC2 Round 1: Forwards and Backwards Coasters

Today's Round 1 match-up focuses on coasters that travel both forwards and backwards at some point in their normal ride cycle. Representing Florida is Disney's Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest, as it takes on Six Flags Over Texas' Mr. Freeze and Universal Studios Hollywood's Revenge of the Mummy. Please note that for those who have only ridden the USF Mummy ride, this is a much different coaster. They are by no means clones.

Remember to vote for your FAVORITE coaster, and the two rides with the highest poll totals will advance to Round 2 to face USF's Revenge of the Mummy and Powder Keg!

I don't think I should vote on this one, I haven't rode of these coasters. So it's only fair I don't vote

You could make a really good and fair guess by watching some pov's and other videos about them. You have to vote!!

As Tomas says below, the "official" stance from AI is that you should vote in every poll, and should you need assistance, to reference ride point of view videos from youtube. If you have not ridden something, use your best judgement after a little simple research!

Yeah, even though I have a coaster count of over 100, I haven't ridden most of the coasters in these polls. Possibly because over half of my count is from California coasters...which don't seem to show up enough in the voting.

And now RotM shows up which is 1 out of 4 coasters in Southern California I actually haven't ridden! (And yes that includes all the credit whoring coasters...John's Incredible Pizza Company, Boomers, Adventure City, etc.)

I voted for Mr. Freeze, I like launch coasters and really enjoyed Speed The Ride in Las Vegas, and Mr. Freeze looks even better. Expedition Everest does look really cool, but past the theme/yeti/track changes, the ride isn't much. Revenge of the Mummy I can't comment much on, apparantly Florida's is a lot better than ours (even though we have the longer backwards section) and ours isn't anything special.

I voted Mr. Freeze because it's one hell of an intense coaster. It's a real surprise, because it doesn't look like it does much but holy cow does it ever pack a punch.

If it got to be Mummy vs. Mummy, I can say in all honesty I'd vote for USH's. The ride is a lot smaller and less detailed, but its just more fun. The coaster stays low to the ground and has quite a few snappy directional changes, and the backwards portion is MUCH longer, with turns, bunny hops, etc. It' an actual backwards coaster (which is why it was included in "forwards and backwards coasters" but USF's was not). The storyline is even more foolish than the USF one, but for a roller coaster (granted, a family roller coaster) it's WAY more fun, I think.

I'm not a fan of Everest. The storyline isn't very good. The Yeti hasn't worked in years, and what's left is a coaster with a backward helix, drop and forward helix. That's it. Thanks, but I'll drive down the street for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad instead!

I voted for MrFreeze. It seems to be quite a intense coaster, and having a launch is almost always a nice touch. Mummy Hollywood has to be quite the same as USF, and Everest is a fun coaster but I would never plan a visit to AK just to be able to ride it.

Tomas, did you not read the original post?

There is NOTHING similar about the two Mummy coasters in terms of their track layout. They are 100% unique coasters when compared to eachother.

haha sorry for that, wasn't paying attention. But anyway my vote would've gone to Mr Freeze. Both Mummy coasters are kind of family oriented rides, and nothing compared to a good and intense coaster.

I would vote USH's Mummy coaster over Expedition Everest though. It's a stupid ride, but it's a bit more fun.
